paul mowat biography/statement

I am an artist concerned with the human condition. I am interested in people and what makes them tick, the ageing process, our relationships with one another-remnants from that...letters, photographs notes and small artifacts...words; all of use as source material. I am constantly amazed at our uniqueness, what makes you you and me me, we are all here, now for a short time. What to do about that and how to record our trace...

art practice

I divide my time between teaching and painting.  As well as producing work for exhibitions I undertake portraiture commissions.  Depending on the project,  I work in either oils, inks, photomontage or a  hybrid of  these and other  materials/techniques.  I exhibit  regularly in the UK and abroad.
