DEVELOPING PAINTING 2022/23
Year Long Course @Edinburgh Palette with paul mowat
Thursday or Fridays, 10-3
This painting course, over three, ten week terms, will focus on the process of painting from location drawing and research, developing painting techniques through to resolution and exhibition of work. Students will be encouraged to develop a regular painting practice through demonstrations, talks, gallery visits and location drawing.
Over the course of the year students will develop a sketchbook/research practice, will work with a range of drawing materials, printmaking, mixed media and collage. We will work ‘in series’ over time to help encourage an expressive, personal approach to painting. Through studies students will explore the possibilities of composition, colour, tone and mark making. There will be homework projects for the students to undertake independently and we will work towards a group exhibition in 2024
Classes with begin in October 2023 at the very well equipped Edinburgh Palette, with a well ventilated studio space with some storage, kitchen facilities and a recreation space. class sizes will be small ensuring enough space and time is given to each student.
